As NYC celebrates #Pride this weekend, my office held a special event this month at Middle Church in Manhattan to honor several LGBTQ+ New Yorkers who continue to lead the good fight for equity and justice. Their words are powerful and inspiring. Council Member Erik Bottcher

The cultural heritage of Italy is strong in NY, thanks in part to the work of the Order of Sons and Daughters of Italy in America. Great to join their members from across the state last night in Albany as they honored awardees and installed Arthur Spera as OSDIA’s new president.

The violence against the Idaho firefighters is appalling. They are public servants trying to protect their community. It’s simply unacceptable I hope they stop those responsible soon, before anyone else is killed or hurt.

Proposed federal changes to SNAP would increase costs to state govts, limit eligibility & reduce the value of future benefits. Almost 3M NYers relied on SNAP as of March. If this legislation passes it will harm our most vulnerable neighbors. ā¬‡ļø ā¬‡ļø osc.ny.gov/press/releases…

The passing of the 82-year-old woman who died from her injuries suffered last month in the antisemitic firebombing attack in Boulder is heartbreaking. The hateful assaults on Jewish people in NY and across the country must end. I hold Karen Diamond and her family in my prayers.

Financial literacy is a life skill with lifelong impacts, helping students avoid credit card debt, understand loans and budget for a rainy day. NYC’s move is a great start. Let’s make a semester-long course a requirement in every NY high school. #FinancialLiteracy #ReadyForLife

Exciting to see the Warehouse @ 700 Broad St. open in Utica helping to ease the affordable housing crisis in NY. It will create new opportunities for families & seniors burdened by the high cost of rent, and I'm happy to join w/ community leaders to support the project.
