Education opens doors, even behind the walls. On National Higher Education Day, we’re proud to highlight that eligible incarcerated individuals in NYS have access to TAP and Pell grant funding, which empowers them to pursue degrees from DOCCS’ college programs.

DOCCS honors the memory of the 43 colleagues who have died in the line of duty since 1861. On June 12, 1986, Syracuse Parole Officer Anthony Libertone was driving en route to conduct investigations when a tire fell from a truck, striking his windshield, killing him instantly.
