Very interesting talk by Micaela Hellstrom on collecting #eDNA from snow prints for multiple cryptic species eg polar bears. Less invasive than traditional methods & works well! Clean DNA collected and no effect from UV. Genotyping possible! Also looking at food signals #UKDNAWG24

Interesting talk by Nathan Griffiths on the use of integrating #eDNA into site condition monitoring for freshwater fish. Can eDNA meet the necessary metrics & data recommendations needed? Need a baseline study and minimum sample numbers based on metrics needing to be met #UKDAWG24

Sadly no pizza analogies this year, but a great talk by Nathan Griffiths on how we can integrate eDNA into site condition monitoring for Arctic charr #UKDNAWG24

New Scotland's Centre of Expertise for Waters report just published. It reviews available methodologies for sampling fish populations in freshwater lochs and a monitoring framework is presented. 🐟💧 Available here: tinyurl.com/2mk53kxe @UHI_Research UHI Biodiversity & Freshwater Conservation Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) NatureScot Scot Gov Marine

How to make a species-rich meadow on former arable land? Sayer's Old Meadow shows the way. 18 years post oil seed rape. No seeding of any kind just annual mowing. More orchids than imaginable & many scarse plants! #patienceoverpacket #RestoreNatureNow Farm Wildlife
