“We wouldn’t leave the hospital for weeks, because if we left people would die” —Dr. Mohammed Al-Musawi putting things in perspective with his experience in limited resource trauma surgery during the Iraq war. #PANAMEVTM2019

As the dust settles from the first wave of covid vaccine rollout, I’m proud of the #CUDeptSurg, #CUMedicalschool and #uchealth response to issues with resident vaccination. By 12/19 1134 residents had received invitations for the vaccine and 17,400 overall vaccinations by 12/24.

While is easy to get upset at residency issues, still have to remember our privileged place in society. Majority of the true high risk population will not receive their vaccine for weeks to months.
