I was one of the compositors on this shot responsible for painting out, and adding in, the blood on the lens as the shot progresses through multiple transitions. I spent nearly 2 months on the task (shake didn’t have projection workflows!).

I was responsible for the ping pong ball tracking and integration. If I close my eyes I can still see the pixels on Clive Owens lips! We actually did the digital ball entirely in Shake, matching the practical ball shading manually with animated grades.

Igor 'Garik' Buldenkov - father, friend and Biting Elbows' lead guitarist, has passed on. He was 42. We played music together for 17 years. He was a generous and kind friend, quiet, except for when he had the guitar in hands and then walls would shake. We will miss him dearly.
