Canada strongly condemns the current terrorist attacks against Israel. These acts of violence are completely unacceptable. We stand with Israel and fully support its right to defend itself. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this. Civilian life must be protected.

The world is seeing appalling images. Thousands of rockets raining down on Israeli cities. Hamas terrorists killing not only Israeli soldiers, but civilians on the streets and in their homes. It’s unconscionable. Israel has a right to defend itself – full stop.

Tonight, as people gather in Toronto in solidarity with Israel, Niagara Falls will be lit blue and white in honour of the lives lost at the hands of Hamas and the enduring strength of the Jewish people. Light over darkness. Ontario stands with Israel.

Canada unequivocally condemns Hamas’ attack against Israel – and we stand united with the Israeli people. That was the message I shared with Ottawa’s Jewish community and everyone at yesterday’s solidarity gathering.

This statement by University of Florida president (and former senator) Ben Sasse is such a wonderful ray of clarity, principle, and genuine warmth -- in contrast to the cold, committee-written word salad from the Ivy League presidents.

I reported two acts of antisemitism to Toronto Police in the past two days. Both have been categorized “hate crimes.“ I’ve lived here my entire life and never experienced this. Tolerance and understanding must prevail over ignorance and hate.

I honestly don’t know how to interpret a study where 15% of the control group received no therapy. And there is no subgroup analysis excluding these patients? I guess given increased risk of ischemic stroke & no difference in overall NIHSS, maybe a neutral study ??? 🤷‍♂️ (1/2)

#6: Consider CT scans on before ICU For the decreased LOC patient, consider whether the patient needs a CT head (or CTA) emergently. If decreased LOC is unexplained or sudden, once intubated, go straight to CT/CTA. If this is an acute stroke or bleed, minutes matter.

The duration of antibiotics in the usual care arm of #ADAPTSEPSIStrial was quite long. I would be interested to know what the duration was for bacteraemic patients (given #BALANCEtrial establishes 7 days as standard for uncomplicated bacteraemia) #CCRdownunder

NEJM "no-symptoms" patients were 47 of 364 (12.9%) in the liberal-strategy transfusion group and in 26 of 361 patients (7.2%) in the restrictive-strategy if someone is tempted to perform a p value (with the risk of excommunication) this will be p=0.01 #CCRdownunder24

1/ A 37 yo W is in the ED after an event of unresponsiveness. She’s had a 3y h/o eye fluttering, stuttering, head shaking, bilateral arm jerking movements, and unresponsiveness. She is now back to baseline. An EEG is obtained and captures an event. What do you think is going on?
