i was checking out at trader joe’s and the cashier said “oh my god we just got these in, i’m so excited to try them — are they any good?” and i looked down and he was pointing at the tomatoes

i’ve worked in nursing homes before, i know who provides the bulk of the care and how residents manage the costs. mass deportations + Medicaid cuts + an aging population spells disaster for senior care. nytimes.com/2025/07/18/us/…

A lot of people are blaming AI for grads’ poor outcomes, but I find the evidence for this claim is surprisingly thin. Excited to release a new analysis w/ Employ America on the labor market performance of recent college grads. 🧵

this is a really great point, junk food purveyors will be able to change their ingredients while their macros stay the same, and get a government stamp of approval that they're now "healthy"

It's one of those D.C. things that residents should know: There's lots of small parcels of federal land in D.C. (including the circles and many triangles), and you can be arrested by Park Police for offenses that local cops may not care about. (Weed and booze, for example.)

Nice blogpost on "PhD-level" AI agents which hits on a concern I've also felt: their current failure modes are the zero tolerance nightmare scenario for an academic researcher (inventing references, manufacturing data, "solving" bugs by removing functionality, etc).

Consumer Reports ranks DC region as #1 for worst traffic in US. Metro Forward.com ridership is ⬆️ but this should be a red flag that we need to focus on funding & implementing a more robust regional transit network…let’s get more people on 🚇🚌 & out of traffic.

it is incredible to be alive in the frontier era of GLP-1s and we should do everything we can (including covering them under Medicaid etc) to make them accessible to people who need them the most.
