Pro tip: if you'd okay 10 units that are 100% affordable but not 500 units that are 25% affordable, you need to think long and hard about whether you actually care about affordable housing

hi friends. last week, my dad was one of the unvaccinated covid patients who “walked into the ICU and didn’t walk out” he died on Sat. night Dec. 11th, after a few days of struggling with oxygen levels & going on a ventilator. it all happened so fast. we couldn't say goodbye 💔

it’s true, but it hurts when people say the unvaccinated are part of the problem. my dad was the toughest, most problematic person in my life, and he believed his choice to not get vaccinated wouldn't affect anyone else. he was wrong. we're working through our rage and anxieties

I was recently offered a nice honour -- nothing too major, and no financial consequences, but flattering and I would have liked to accept it. Indeed, in the past I would have accepted it. However, it required me to make a transatlantic flight, 1/

This is Fedir Shandor. He's fighting for #Ukraine. In a peaceful life, he's my colleague — uni lecturer & the Head of the Department of Sociology at Uzhhorod National University. In the photo, he's giving online lectures to his students, from the trench on the front line.

Study of a psychology conference (N=375; 63% men) finds men asked 78% of questions & talked 3.5x as much. Men more likely to be the first in line to ask a question. 2nd study finds women feared backlash in askinq q's & expressing opinions. Shoshana Jarvis bps.org.uk/research-diges…

One of the most impactful talks I’ve seen was Natalie Telis’s presentation on the gender gap regarding question-asking at conferences (incl ashg). A few years ago, I wrote about my takeaways and tips for building up the confidence to ask questions. 1/3 ruthjohnson95.github.io/posts/2018/10/…
