“If there’s one message I hope comes through loud and clear, it’s that teachers are smart, capable professionals who can engage with research meaningfully—and that doing so can make a real difference for their students.” 👏👏👏

If this is true there should be significant consequences for the professor. Failing a student over minor academic differences is petty and pathetic.

I am thrilled to accept this new guest article, which critically reviews Ontario Math policy, by Math teacher and coach, Mike Hastie. Pedagogy Non Grata has always been about teachers helping teachers. drive.google.com/file/d/1D88jQV…

I LOVED the brilliant new book “Making Words Stick” by Molly Ness / End Book Deserts and Dr. Katie Pace Miles in the Research to Classroom Practice series from Scholastic… …And I absolutely LOVE this 1-page handout to accompany it, too! Check this out!👇🏼❤️

Great article in today's Winnipeg Free Press. To schools that are cancelling tests, grades, percentages: we see the impact of this at post-secondary. Employers do too. "We can't keep [kids] wrapped up in bubble wrap, hoping life will be kind to them. It won't be."

An analysis of the 2003 and 2007 TIMSS & PIRLS mathematics surveys concludes "better achievement was associated with more teacher-led instruction, less connection to students’ daily lives, and—in particular—more memorizing of formulas and procedure": bit.ly/4eU9N61

Is <ck> a useless grapheme? Could we just universally use <k> to spell the /k/ sound and improve the English language system.
