NEW EVENT: If you're in London and Welsh, enjoy medieval history, or just want a cheap pint, on Tuesday 8 July I will be debuting a brand-new talk at the London Welsh Centre. The topic? Why, it's only Owain GlyndΕ΅r.

Remember when Warren Gatland basically picked the Ospreys team in 2008 and we beat England at Twickenham for first time in 20 years. Great times.

Jasper’s a popular name for pets (let me know if you have one) & posh people. Pretty rare these days I think. But the name 1st entered British history with Jasper Tudor uncle of Henry VII who had a fascinating life. Join me & Nathen Amin βœ’οΈπŸ“š as we discuss him shows.acast.com/willy-willy-ha…

A reminder that this Sunday evening in beautiful sunny Tenby, I will be discussing the town's extraordinary medieval past and how its underground tunnels might just have saved the Tudor dynasty from early extinction. Everyone is welcome.

Having been involved since the beginning, it's exciting to work progress for the 'Henry Tudor Centre and Library' in Pembroke. So many excellent people in the community pulling together across the years to get this across the line. Soon.

Me, with the remains of my great great grandparents woollen mill, which closed down in 1915. I'm sure their life, the George family of Porth-y-Rhaw, was unimaginably tough, especially in winter, but what a view. We are here because of them that came before.

In today's newsletter, I take you behind the scenes once more about being a public historian. A big part of that is public speaking. It didn't always come naturally to me, and maybe still doesn't. Learn about my journey now, and what advice I'd give people.

Did you know the first Beaufort-blooded monarch was James II of Scotland? In England, it was Edward IV, followed by Edward V and Richard III. To find out the role their Beaufort blood played in the rise of the White Rose, check out 'The House of Beaufort'. Available everywhere.

This July I have three talks - my event at Harvington Hall is already sold out (😎) but you can still come and hear me talk about Owain Glyndwr at London Welsh Centre or Jasper Tudor at Southwark Cathedral. Or better yet, come to both?

Are you in London tomorrow? I'm presenting a new lecture at London Welsh Centre on Owain Glyndwr. In 1905, Owen Rhoscomyl wrote "No other of all our heroes ever seated himself so firmly in the hearts of our race as this Owain". How did this come to be the case? Come along!
