I was delighted to pick up the Muddy Boots award for Nature Champions at the parliament tonight for all my various visits to see the Bilberry Bumblebee and ash trees. There are some fantastic nature champs among MSPs.

Yesterday Scottish Environment LINK members came together with MSPs to celebrate Scotland's Nature Champions! Sponsored by Alex Burnett MSP, the event was a great chance to recognise some of the fantastic work MSPs and LINK members do to bring a voice for nature into the Scottish Parliament.

I was delighted to win an award at the Scottish Environment Link Nature Champion Awards yesterday evening, for campaigning for the protection of sand eels. They are an important source of food for birds, including puffins, and are now protected from commercial fishing.

Almost two thirds of Scotland’s seabird species have declined over the last 20 years, with eight species including the Arctic tern, kittiwake and black-headed gull declining by more than 50%. Scotland's seabirds are internationally important and they need our protection.

The Noctule Bat is usually one of the first bats to appear in the evening, with calls just audible to the human ear. In summer, these ginger-golden bats roost in trees with holes made by woodpeckers, rot, or splits. #NatureChampioned by Miles Briggs MSP with Bat Conservation Trust
