I am a bit biased... This was an amazing conversation between Kavitha A. Davidson and Nef on Slaying the Trolls, the WNBA, and Nef's amazing athletic and academic career!! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/buz…

2 coaches have been fired this week. Neither one did I see coming. You can't give a coach 2 years or less with depleted rosters and a poor front office structure and expect them to be successful. Just wild to me. #WNBA

Don’t know the details of TSpoon’s firing. But we know from our research that Black women are most likely to be fired and least likely to be rehired in The W. If interested, WNBA we are happy to talk more about this work. #WNBATwitter

Looking for some insight into TSpoon’s firing? The first step is to understand that this is par for the course when it comes to the WNBA coaching decisions. Black women are most likely to be fired and least likely to be rehired in the W. #WNBATwitter

From 1997 to 2022 in the WNBA, Nef, Lauren Hindman, Courtney Paulson, and I found that white males are less likely to be fired in the WNBA. That is AFTER we controlled for outcomes. Yes, evidence of discrimination still exists. openurl.ebsco.com/EPDB%3Agcd%3A9…

In Slaying the Trolls we review research (published by Lauren Hindman, Nef, Courtney Paulson and I), that non-white males are more likely to be fired in the WNBA. That result holds AFTER controlling for the records coaches post.

Just reposting this from Lauren Hindman: Lots of questions re: the Sky's firing of Teresa Weatherspoon. Our research (Nef David Berri) from the WNBA: Controlling for on-court performance, Black women were nearly 3.5 times as likely to be fired as white men.

This was an EXCELLENT conversation. Sarah asked effective, thoughtful questions, and put on a masterclass in interviewing. I’ve known Christine for years and have admired her work, but I was extremely disappointed in her interview with Dijonai Carrington. While I don’t think her
