Each week, our posts attract hundreds of comments related to #COVID19β€”far more than our social media team can answer. Lately a ton have been about vaccines in particular. To settle some of the FAQs, we asked Janna Shapiro, Ph.D., @Jo_Wanna21, @KayteAndersen and Neia Prata for help.

Amazing that everywhere I have seen data, having less space per person per household equates to higher risk of #COVID19. But sure, let's blame choices. #resourcesbeforerestrictions #notamystery

Wherein Neia Prata, Kate Rucinski, & Stefan Baral eviscerate logic of 'test! test!' without 'stop. think.' "those who cannot afford to take time off work... may be hesitant to present for testing in the first place, exacerbating already disparate outcomes." blogs.bmj.com/bmj/2021/04/16…

We tested for #COVID19 but minimal support prevention of onward transmission. We pretended all were at same risk. We didn't support infection prevention in workplaces. I'm sure glad folks wear masks outside. W/ Neia Prata Kate Rucinski in The BMJ blogs.bmj.com/bmj/2021/04/16…

"Ultimately, an enduring lesson of covid will be that our strategies didn’t leverage core surveillance principles, & as a result theyβ€”either by design or by accidentβ€”better protected wealthier communities. In that, they have been a resounding success." - incredible Neia Prata

We have a preprint out today! This is one of the first studies assessing Injection Drug Use (IDU) among People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) in Kigali, Rwanda. Among 307 participants, we found a high prevalence of HIV and high levels of risky IDU practices:

Happy to share that this study is now out in Harm Reduction Journal. Please check out the article at rdcu.be/cDjgD During the review process, we updated our analyses and found significant differences among male and female PWID that should inform programming:
