#OTD 1959 Newly elected chairman of #Whitstable's harbour committee Cr. E. Terry vowed to do his best to serve the committee and "try to keep order so that we finish our meetings in good time". The meeting went on until 1.15am.

#OTD 1898 A horse v bicycle race took place over 300 yds on Marine Parade, #Tankerton. Mr Foreman rode his horse and racing buggy, and one of Mr Foad's bicycles was ridden by one of his workmen. The pace was estimated at 30 mph and the cycle won by a couple of lengths.
