Today, The Mayor Bruno Rangira received the Rusumo Power Company Limited (RPCL)'s Governance, NELSAP Management and staff to discuss completion of projects of the local area development programs.

The construction of Rusumo 80MW Regional Power Plant was completed by NELSAP in 2024. The Plant is now operational and increases electricity to the national grids of Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania.

A Local Area Development Plan (LADP) was also offered to districts surrounding Rusumo area as a benefit sharing program designed to enhance regional economic and social development in the project area Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania.
