The Trae Young of Oregon High School hoops? Another outstanding game both scoring (30 points) and passing (10+ assists) from Braylon Gaines in the Nelson Mens Basketball victory over rival Clackamas. The sophomore got to the hoop wherever he wanted to and found guys open for scores.

Sharpshooting as usual today from Ahshua Neal as he kept his jumper loaded and knocked down five threes and scored 18 points. But the Nelson Mens Basketball also was a big contributor on the boards, hitting the offensive glass hard in particular.

An unsung hero for Nelson Mens Basketball this season has been Chaz Katoanga (3⭐️DB). The junior guard does a lot of the little things that help the Hawks win and tonight it was his gritty effort on defense that was big in the win. His effort also led to some scoring too with 7 points.

Playing every single minute tonight and putting it all on the floor was Braylon Gaines. The Nelson Mens Basketball sophomore point guard willed the Hawks to victory, constantly putting his body on the line getting to the hoop to create for himself and others. 15 points and 5 assists.

Only 6 points tonight for Jaiden Pickett but the last two were huge. With a little over a minute left and the Hawks down 1, the senior caught the ball in the corner, made a dribble move, and sank a pull-up for the final go ahead bucket, 41-40.

Solid senior night send off for Ahshua Neal. The Nelson Mens Basketball scored some tough baskets in the first half when offense was at a premium. He hit two clutch free throws at the end to secure the victory and finished with 12 points.

Final: #6 Nelson Mens Basketball 77, #27 Lake Oswego 70 Braylon Gaines led NHS with 38 points, shooting 14-17 FT. Ahshua Neal scored 14 points and Jaiden Pickett added 11. Robbie Durbin 11 led LOHS with 24 points, hitting 7 threes. Liam Rigney scored 19 points and Jackson Freeman added 11.

With his 38 points tonight, Nelson Mens Basketball sophomore guard Braylon Gaines surpassed the 1000 career point mark.
