Preemies understand when they are being read to by their parents. RCT demonstrates those read to at 36 weeks have ⬆️ conversational turns‼️ Keep it up parents! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35673850/ #neoTwitter

Another wonderful morning meeting with the Parent and Families Engagement group run by the very lovely Karen. Always amazing to see new faces and find out what is going on across Y&HNeonatalODN

Wonderful day working closely with other infant feeding leads from Sheffield Hospitals and HarrogateMaternity via Y&HNeonatalODN. Shared goals & values give us a great platform to improve care to the families accessing our services πŸ‘ΆπŸΌ

Was going to save my comments for Baby Friendly UK conference until close of service today but WOW. Thank you Karleen Gribble! Thought provoking for all but even more so for those of us who regularly access women’s health services and feel unheard/unseen.

In the UK, only 1% of mothers meet the WHO recommendation of exclusively breastfeeding at 6 months of age, despite many mothers wishing to do so and stopping breastfeeding before they had planned to. More support is needed for women to meet their breastfeeding goals! #WBW2023

& whilst I’m here if you haven’t seen this disgraceful response to a breastfeeding mum from tuiuk then have a quick read. We’ve got a long way to go but we’re going despite the discrimination we see every day!

Now I’m heading back to my bubble to tuck my babies in & get ready for a few hours virtual support tomorrow. Maybe I’ll be back in a other 6 months πŸ™ˆπŸ’œ take care, love Soph xx

Vicky Thomas to be honest, I don't think more study [of biology or clinical impact] is needed. it's a no brainer really. studies should focus on how to make it happen & support parents/staff but it is really difficult to see any downside.
