First paper accepted! Interested in #saltmarsh stability, and how substrate properties might affect #resistance to erosion? Check out our paper as part of NERC_RESIST BLUEcoast at: doi.org/10.1002/esp.49…. Thanks to all co-authors tagged below and Tom Spencer Cambridge Geography

Great to see this work published. A step change in our understanding of what lies beneath the surface of #saltmarshes. Very honoured to have had you on our NERC_RESIST team, @Clem_Chirol.

Are you teaching GCSE or A-Level #Geography? Check out our teachers’ resources RGS-IBG Schools on coastal environments and, in particular, salt marshes in advance of #COP26 ! rgs.org/schools/teachi…

Just starting now: UK Research and Innovation session at #COP26 on how research and innovation can tackle climate change. youtube.com/watch?v=n3Ac6E…

Salt marshes are #biodiverse, store #carbon and protect against #flooding. Find out more in our video about the impact of #climatechange and human impacts on our coasts ahead of #COP26 Cambridge FilmWorks youtube.com/watch?app=desk…

Tune in to learn about our exciting research into how and why #saltmarshes erode and therefore how we can improve their ability to use salt marshes as effective #naturebasedsolutions to flooding in a changing climate. #COP26 Cambridge FilmWorks youtube.com/watch?app=desk…

We CT-scanned #marsh #soils to create high-res 3D images to understand why & where erosion occurs. The shape & distribution of roots & voids varied with vegetation & sediment type. #COP26 Cambridge FilmWorks doi.org/10.1002/esp.51…

RESIST aimed to understand #saltmarsh resistance to #erosion in the face of #climatechange. We wrote a lit review, undertook field/lab work, and captured drone images, which can be used to map erosion and plant species. #COP26 Cambridge FilmWorks doi.org/10.1002/esp.49…

Exciting to see these published, including contributions from our very own Iris Moeller Trinity Geography . Fantastic resources for now and in the future!

In this paper, we CT-scanned #marsh #soils to create high-res 3D images. Our scans of marsh soils in SE and NW England found that the shape and distribution of roots/voids varies with vegetation/sediment type. #WorldWetlandsDay Cambridge FilmWorks doi.org/10.1002/esp.51…

Our field/flume data show that the sediment and vegetation type affect the resistance of #marshes to #erosion. We recorded more erosion in sandy sediments and more erosion close to roots and voids. #WorldWetlandsDay Cambridge FilmWorks

We aimed to understand #saltmarsh resistance to #erosion. We wrote a review paper (doi.org/10.1002/esp.49…), which highlighted a knowledge gap on how different substrate properties have a combined effect on substrate strength. #WorldWetlandsDay Cambridge FilmWorks
