What I'm Reading: You Have to Be Prepared to Die Before You Can Begin to Live, by Paul Kix (2023). An exciting, inspiring look at the battle to desegregate Birmingham, Alabama in 1963. The heroes are the Black children who faced down the guns, tanks, dogs, and water hoses.

As many times as I’ve heard this. I’m still completely riveted by its transformational narrative about war, loss, beauty & horror, fused as one.
