New preprint out showing exciting insights on how genome replication is controlled in E. coli, also by titration!Great work led by the amazing Lorenzo Olivi and great bioinformatics by Stephan Köstlbacher Laboratory of Microbiology at WUR . And great collaborations with @HohlbeinLab Pieter-Rein ten Wolde AMOLF

Novel enzyme starts with promiscuity. Excited to share our study that shows how #evolution recruits a single enzyme for multiple purposes, showcasing the plasticity and flexibility of #metabolism. Huge thanks to my colleagues at SYBORG & Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology! rdcu.be/dXaqU

Our newest 'hot' preprint is out : making the thermophilic platform P. thermo bacterium use methanol, a promising recipe for future sustainable bioproduction with renewable methanol. Great work led by Miguel Paredes-Barrada Laboratory of Microbiology at WUR! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Great to see this work out, 7 (!) years ago we started trying to make an efficient CRISR genome editing tool for my favorite C1-utilizer C. necator . That was a challenge, but driven by Enrico Orsi @dellavallesimo and @copa_bio the puzzled was cracked! SIBR(2.0)-Cas! Check it!

New paper from the group developing a cutting edge genome editing tool for Cupriavidus necator! With Enrico Orsi, @copa_bio, @dellavallesimo leading the work and including Nico Claassens Pablo Iván Nikel @pabnik.bsky.social biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Chek below form more info!

Today I’m joining 30+ colleagues in taking an unusual step: calling for a halt to a line of research I was excited about, the long-term effort to build “mirror life”. We’re sharing our findings in a Science Magazine paper: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… 1/6

Synthetic Carbon fixation just got a boost 🚀: Synthetic Biology outperformed Nature in a Living Bacterium. Check out the new work from Beau Dronsella SYBORG together with Nico Claassens Laboratory of Microbiology at WUR #synbio, #formatebioeconomy mpi-marburg.mpg.de/1493129/2025-0…

Glad to see my main PhD project finally out Nature Microbiology nature.com/articles/s4156… We show for the first time that a synthetic and engineered pathway can indeed exceed nature at one-carbon fixation.
