So, to be clear, we just sent 3 million children into primary school FOR ONE DAY, so they could all mix around the virus, and *then* go into lockdown? That's what's actually just happened, right? My brain isn't making this up?

Just one comment: anyone who says “learning has to go online tomorrow” at 8pm the night before has clearly not done much of either teaching or learning.

What I’ve learnt about schools this year is that by the end of today everything will be sorted, routines and systems will be in place and they’ll be cracking on with the job. Schools, headteachers, school staff. You continue to be amazing. You’ve let nobody down.

The late great John Lewis shed his blood on the Edmund Pettus Bridge for our right to vote. The forces against him were powerful, but he knew the capacity of what our country could be was a fight worth having. Georgia, mask up today and march on to the ballot box in his honor.

So my dad, himself a cartographer, has drawn a map of my literature review 🥰 #phdlife He refused to believe reterratorialising is a word though!

I’m hearing about teachers receiving notification today of lesson observations of their online teaching. Everyone’s working hard at work and home to adjust to the latest developments, and it’s not easy. I’m asking all senior leaders to please show compassion. It goes a long way

There’s been a focus on SEL, which is needed, but we ignore the research that shows how play, recess, & physical activity can improve focus, on task behavior, self regulation of emotions, interpersonal skills and improved achievement. #LearningonyourFeet

.Matt Hancock why are pharmacy technicians not being on the list of professionals allowed to vaccinate after you told them in October that they would be? They were asked to prepare and many pharmacies paid for intensive courses at great expense.

Glad to see BBC pulling something at of the bag for school aged kids at home but this is not enough. There is still a digital divide which leaves digitally disadvantaged families without equal access to education and other important services.

What will happen to adults without GCSE Maths and English who want to take up university Access Courses? This is a barrier currently and needs to be addressed in COVID times too

Nicola Martin (@nicolam79014592) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Agree-this is an underlying principle of inclusive practice. Building in the first place on Universal Design for Learning principles is good too. UDL assumes diversity, values diversity and plans acordingly.

My best teachers were my mum and dad. My mum realised I was dyslexic and taught me to write in the correct direction as I was mirror writing. School just thought it was about being left handed. This was in the olden days. Dad was always totally encouraging.

These seem to be less common now and it is a real barrier for people who came later to the 'required' level of literacy and numeracy. I'm interested to know of any Access Courses still running which have thought this equity issue through .
