News has just broken that the MP who topped the private members' bill ballot is bringing forward a bill to legalise assisted dying. If the govt pave the way for it procedurally, there's every chance it could pass without adequate scrutiny. More here. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Helpful reminder: ✅The Crown Prosecution Service makes independent decisions based on evidence, not letters from MPs who have seen a video clip on Twitter. ✅A crowdfunder to privately prosecute a case still under police investigation is at best pointless, at worst a con.

Different people receiving different sentences when convicted of the same offence is not ‘two tier’ justice. It’s not profound. And it’s not even surprising. Sentencing guidelines exist. You can read them. Anyone can read them. The sentence is tailored to the offence & offender.

Once more, for Nigel at the back: * It is completely standard for material not to be in the public domain when a jury trial is pending. * It’s so the trial is not wrecked. It’s so any conviction is safe. * He pleaded guilty. So no trial. * Then the information was released.

Dismayed to see you sharing such a misleading & potentially deeply frightening video, Kim. If someone is in 'unspeakable pain' at the end of life, they should see a palliative care doctor like me - & I can promise you there is always something I can do for your pain. (1/n)
