Understand Meg Hillier will now be withdrawing her reasoned amendment to the welfare bill, which currently has 126 Labour MP backers The remaining rebels are choosing today whether to make their voices heard on a separate reasoned amendment, or revert to second reading itself

Let's be absolutely clear what the Government's 'concessions' to the Welfare Bill mean: If you currently have a condition like Parkinsons or MS then you will get support to wash and cook for yourself. But someone diagnosed next year gets nothing. This is just utterly appalling.

When MPs vote on Tuesday, we're voting on whether to introduce a 4-point rule for PIP. That rule means disabled people who'll need help to go to the toilet, cut up food or wash can be denied PIP. If the Bill passes, the 4-point rule will be law, regardless of any PIP review.

Even with the concessions, the government's own analysis forecasts that 150,000 people could still be pushed into poverty by disability benefit cuts by the end of the decade. As Labour MPs, we didn't enter politics to make struggling constituents poorer. We must stop this Bill.

ā€œAfter months of the government ignoring disabled people the only way meaningful co-production can take place is by pulling this Bill and going back to the drawing boardā€ - Nadia Whittome MP #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs #TakingThePIP

Speaking at Parliament today about the proposed welfare cuts - šŸ’™Rachael Maskell MP: ā€œThose who came to see me with fluctuating conditions just do not know where their future lies. These Dickensian cuts belong to a different eraā€ #LongCovid #TakingThePIP

UPDATE: In a major u-turn, Keir Starmer has now scrapped the entire PIP section of the welfare bill. The Timms review will report back in autumn 2026 and, as it is being conducted with disability groups, is highly unlikely to opt for four-point eligibility criteria. This

Stephen Timms MP just said in Parliament that the 4-point PIP requirement will be removed from the #WelfareReform Bill ā¬‡ļø

The political ineptitude and mismanagement of this is epic. The whips office, the Downing St operation, and DWP should be hanging heads in shame. And truly disastrous for Keir Starmer and what’s left of his authority

How about… invest money to find effective treatments for #LongCovid & prevent swathes of people repeatedly getting Covid. Otherwise the no. of disabled people will keep rising, the cost of healthcare will keep rising & the workforce will keep getting massacred. #WelfareReform

Another illustration of the #WelfareReform Bill shambles: ā€œSome Labour MPs came out of the commons chamber and were telling me they didn't quite know what they voted for or against" In what way is that vote remotely genuine?!! ā¬‡ļøā¬‡ļøā¬‡ļø #TakingThePIP

Raina MacIntyre The fact media outlets continue to ask this question despite so many having told them the answer is concerning. Mass denial of science doesnt mean the science isn’t there. And pretending a problem doesn’t exist because the truth is somewhat inconvenient doesn’t make it less true

Another example how the #NHS neglect their own advice and patient safety When will staff see the light? They all are blind thinking their Trusts have their best interests at heart. I got news for you…. They don’tā€¼ļø #Covid #SARSCoV2 #NHSKills

The DWP PIP system doesn't have a category for POTS, the closest in the system is 'tachycardia'. Funny how the prevalence of tachycardia as the primary condition for which was PIP awarded has increased ~10 fold since the start of the pandemic... #LongCOVID #MECFS
