Some good #healthcare news: Utah just adopted the new Uniform Health-Care Decisions Act from Uniform Law Commission. It makes it easier for patients to ensure their wishes are understood and respected. As the Act's Reporter, I couldn't be prouder. uniformlaws.org/committees/com… #Careplanning

Thanks Univ. of Arizona Law faculty for inviting me to talk about my new article on age discrimination and for the fabulously helpful feedback from Tara R Sklar, Oren Tamir, and many others. Added bonus, a chance to visit the Sonoran desert (which also made some great points).

Good news for #DisabilityRights: Kansas just adopted the Uniform Guardianship, Conservatorship, & Other Protective Arrangements Act from Uniform Law Commission. The Act helps reduce unnecessary and overbroad #guardianship & #conservatorship. As the Act's Reporter, I'm thrilled.

Out today in Bill of Health! U.S. nursing homes often aren't safe for >1 million people who live in them. Yet a federal court just tossed a key protection for #NursingHome home residents. I explain how states can respond. petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/04/16/sta… #Longtermcare Petrie-Flom Center

Last week, a federal judge in Texas ruled to eliminate a minimum staffing standard for nursing homes. But, as @ninakohn of SU College of Law Solomon Center @ YLS writes, states have quite a bit of power to regulate the industry on their own. Thanks SU College of Law for this nice write-up about my work with the Uniform Law Commission.

I spoke with NationalPublicRadio about understaffing at state agencies that oversee #NursingHomes, a problem that puts residents at real risk. Glad this issue getting press--and glad that Justice in Aging is pursuing a legal strategy to help address it. npr.org/2025/07/15/nx-… #ElderLaw
