I'm thoroughly enjoying #microbio23 and have loved seeing the enthusiasm and passion for their science brought by Cailean, Steven Rudder Alice Nisbet and Gabriel Astorga 𧬠Your face will be up here next year Eleanor Hayles π Microbiology Society Quadram Institute

We are still revelling in the success of our Steven Rudder & Alice Nisbet & Mark Webber's ε»ε―η Ho Yu Liu in winning over Quadram Institute's π² with their hypothetical life changing company 17lukhanyo hoza+. They & α΄°Κ³ Bushra (she/her) π΅πΈ πͺπΊ kept their nerve whilst in the dragons' den - true skills shown by these #PhDs

Some of Quadram Institute's wonder women are with me today Royal Norfolk Show. I have Mark Webber's Leanne Sims & Caroline Jarvis β€οΈπ¦ , Langridge Lab's Alice Nisbet, & Matt Gilmour's Ana Victoria are here & ready to #outreach. Might be raining but not on our parade at the #STEMMVillage #womenofscience

Again really proud of Quadram Institute's Leanne Sims, Caroline Jarvis β€οΈπ¦ , Alice Nisbet & Ana Victoria. The 1st outreach for many of them & they truly smashed it, engaging & wowing all the next generation Royal Norfolk Show #STEMMVillage. True inspirations #womenofscience #AcademicChatter #outreach

I had an amazing time Royal Norfolk Show today, showcasing Emma Waters #whatisascientist at the #STEMMVillage. We met plenty of enthusiastic future scientists π©βπ¬ π¨βπ¬ and Iβm honoured to be able to help illustrate the immense diversity within our industry through #outreach 𧬠π¬π₯Ό

Is this just a social construct? Time to celebrate all the things πΎ π₯³ including Cailean's 1st 1st author paper & the addition of Eleanor Hayles (Steven Rudder & Alice Nisbet because we missed introducing them apparently) #evenduckscanfly

Yesterday we said sota tale to our Fijian friends after a wonderful week teaching them #nanopore #MinION #sequencing𧬠As we start our long journey back to Quadram Institute I must thank Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research & JIDCuk Trust for awarding me travel grants to go to Centre for People, Place & Planet Australia π¦πΊ & Fiji National University π«π―

Thanks Centre for Microbial Interactions & all the #microbiologists Norwich Research Park & UEA! We have had an awesome day of fantastic #microbiology research. & it's great to see our Alice Nisbet win people's choice runners up prize for her poster on #paratyphiA. Microbiology Society we are ready

The group is enjoying all of the help detecting pathogens from the children of #Norwich Norwich Science Festival today with others from Quadram Institute & Norwich Research Park park. Its exciting to see the scientists of the future in action π©βπ¬ The Forum Norwich #outreach #publicengagement

We had an amazing time at Norwich Science Festival yesterday, where >300 pathogen detectivesπ΅ isolated, processed & reported a wide range of bacteria!π¦ Thank you to everyone who participated - we are certain that with young minds like these, the future of #Science is brightππ§βπ¬#outreach

After a lovely last few days Microbiology Society #Microbio24 I'm really excited to be presenting my work on the metabolic capacity of #Salmonella Paratyphi A isolates during long term human persistence π©βπ¬π§« Be sure to come and see me at B047 to learn more about my novel findings π§¬

Our lovely students Alice Nisbet and Eleanor Hayles sharing their research today HPRUged and listening intently (probably) to Gemma Langridge talking about variation in genomes and patients #slay Thanks to all for organising a great meeting π§¬π©βπ»πͺ and Marie Anne Chattaway for the invite

The first large open access free international conference based β¦UK Health Security Agencyβ© in colindale since COVID. A successful two days of genomic development & applications in public health by β¦National Institute for Health and Care Researchβ© HPRUgedβ©. Thank you to all who attended and contributed.

The student has become the teacher π©βπ« Our Alice Nisbet has spent her afternoon teaching our postdoc Emma Waters how to run her 1st DNA gel! Yes, you read that correctly FIRST! How she has gotten away with this after 15+ yrs in science & 7 in #microbiology we have no idea?!

Great to see Emma Waters Alice Nisbet and Gemma Langridge have made it safely to Kathmandu! Looking forward to seeing how the Oxford Nanopore course goes - wishing the trainers and trainees a great week!
