Wrapped in the flag of my nation, I stood before the African Union monument not just as one but as all African children whose cries echoed from the soil, unheard but unbroken. From slums, fields, refugee camps & forgotten schools we will rise to redefine the Africa we desire!

The agenda was neither small nor personal. It was national & generational. From the hills of Kabale to the streets of Kampala, from the islands of Kalangala to the plains of Karamoja. It was never a campaign! It was a liberation agenda! #StartTheCountDown

Brothers, thank you! You didn’t just honor me but also you reminded me that true leadership plants seeds in people’s hearts not just policies in books. This portrait will forever hang as a reminder that the struggle for transformation is generational & we must never betray it.

The African child must know: the last word is not for those who conquered. It is for those who survived. We, who have outlived slavery, outlasted colonialism and continued to stand through poverty, betrayal & global indifference. This final word is ours!

Those who seek to dominate a people first control what they are taught, how they are taught & what they are never allowed to question. True education is not neutral. It either strengthens the chains of oppression or sharpens the swords of freedom. Akiso Benjamin Oppressed🇺🇬

Until Africa’s syllabi are reclaimed and reimagined, independence will remain a flag ceremony without substance. To decolonize education is not to reject all foreign knowledge -it is to center African realities, African innovations & African diginity at the heart of learning!

For too long, Africa’s story was written by foreign pens focused on famine, war, disease and despair. The dignity, brilliance & complexity of African lives were either ignored or distorted. Ours is to reclaim our voices and demand the right to define who we are!

Africa’s post-independence history is rich with voices that promised liberation but delivered new forms of exploitation. Leaders adopted colonial thrones, greed, brutality and disdain for the very people whose shoulders they stood upon & replaced white rule with black tyranny.

The world must stop looking at Africa through lenses of pity. The African child does not need your tears, they need your respect, solidarity & investment in their autonomy. Development must not be a disguise for dominance. We must affirm African identity and history not erase it.
