BREAKINGπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ: Trump admin weighing suspension of habeas corpus, a move used only four times in U.S. history, most notably during the Civil War. Let me translate that for you: this is a legal warm-up for martial law. No trial. No charges. Just indefinite detention, if they decide

Iran has lost Assad--and with it, the land route to Lebanon and its ally Hezbollah. The Wall Street Journal reports that new efforts at Beirut's airport are cutting the air route as well. With these routes blocked, Iran's ability to manage a post-2006 style resupply is significantly impaired.

Since dumb elevator rules are back in rotation, check out this comparison of a single stair project vs the U.S. required double corridor & oversized elevators. 25% more open space, way more windows per unit, and accommodates families. Code creates outcomes. (via Bryn Davidson @Lanefab)

it’s ironic that the U.S. has some of the strongest elevator requirements in the world thanks to the ADA… but we have also laws that make it extremely expensive and difficult to build elevators

Yep. There was an intellectual faction in the Democratic party (roughly, the Warrenites) who thought antitrust and anticorporate stuff was going to be the next big thing. It never would have caught fire, but now they're blaming the Abundance folks and yelling a lot. It'll pass.

If there's a silver lining to Trump's tariffs, it's that they might prompt China's Boomer-conservative leaders to realize that overproduction is unprofitable and you can't export your way out of the end of catch-up growth. reuters.com/world/inside-c…

The article itself conveys that, to fix this, you need to beat: 1. The International Union of Elevator Constructors (and by extension, the AFL-CIO) 2. The 'Made-in-America' lobby 3. The ADA Army of Ambulance Chasers 4. The regulatory state So, don't count on Democrats to fix it

We have this popular myth that war is a constant feature of human nature, unchanging, always with us, blah blah blah. But it's not true. When the world falls into crisis, war kicks up to a whole new level of bad.

Idk, I think "let's make everything more expensive so people will stay mad and we can direct that anger at rich people" is probably not a strategy that's going to work

Some guys took the whole "subtly communicate to a girl that she's not out of your league" thing and turned it into "loudly call every girl mid on social media" Bro people will just think you're ace πŸ˜‚

The panoply of explicitly anti-growth rules that arose in the 1970s and that "abundance" thinkers want to reverse were not the New Deal economic paradigm, but its repudiation and replacement by a new ideology.
