God, this is pitiful. You can literally see from the video his 'explanation' - with a bonus helping of moral vanity - is garbage. And people wonder why trust in politicians is in the skip.

If Baroness Casey is now calling for a national inquiry into grooming gangs, it proves what Iโ€™ve been saying all year: only a full statutory inquiry will expose the truth, bring justice for survivors, and stop this evil from happening again. Yet every time weโ€™ve called for

If there is coordination suspected ahead of trouble this weekend in NI, there must also be co-ordination with a criminal justice system almost parodied in its leniency. Severe prison sentences for *rioters* works as a deterrent and restores confidence in the law abiding.

Or we could praise an ally for taking defensive action to stop fundamentalist maniacs who want their annihilation acquiring nuclear weapons. There is no such thing as diplomatic leverage with theocratic fascists. This is weak, weak, weak.

We all knew this was inevitable & necessary. Except of course for bloviating cowards on government benches who will now be busy claiming, without the slightest shame or insight, they were in favour of a national inquiry all along. What a gruesome shower. bbc.com/news/articles/โ€ฆ

Take action or take the consequences. Here's a link to my rapid review and the solutions. (Allowing yourselves to be insulated from reality by clueless and hapless bureaucrats isn't one of them Shabana Mahmood MP ) counterextremism.com/press/ian-acheโ€ฆ

Grimly fascinating. The lines to take on this seem to be a. 'our primary concern was for the victims' & b. 'we had to wait for Louise Casey to tell us what to think.' Instead of hiding under the bed - the rational response to being caught out so badly - we get a human sandbag.๐Ÿคท

Baroness Casey has done the *people* some service, not the state. A statutory national inquiry was resisted by the state & the gutless cowards who operate it, tooth and nail, until it became untenable. Expediency not morality. Now let justice be done, though the heavens fall.

This may well be her best outing of the year. Dripping with disdain for the bench opposite who can only squirm and gurn as their absolute complicity in blocking a national inquiry they now insist was needed all along is revealed. An moral disgrace that will & should haunt them.

If there is a *proveable* Whitehall cover up, there must be individual criminal consequences for those who were trying to sweep a national child safeguarding catastrophe under the carpet. Not just shame, jail time. Nothing less meets the seriousness of such behaviour.

Devastating from Madeline Grant. The point that Labour would, basically, criminalise discussion or exposure of the gangs and their practices is a very, very important one. Behaviour reveals priorities. I keep saying it because itโ€™s true.
