In CA today, 1 in 5 people are food insecure, with deep disparities for Black & Latine people. Congress must #StrengthenSNAP in the #FarmBill by increasing access, funding & eligibility to help Californians who experience #hunger get access to the food they need.

The passage of #SB1254 will allow and assist people who are incarcerated in applying for CalFresh benefits before their release, better preparing them for reentry and supporting their successful reintegration into society.

People who are incarcerated face numerous challenges upon release. By allowing them to apply for CalFresh benefits before release, #SB1254 can reduce hunger, improve stability, and decrease the likelihood of recidivism.
