EYFS explored their smell during Daily Message, deciding what the items are by thinking about familiar smells!

EYFS - Science Detectives. We have been exploring which materials 'absorb' and 'repel' water. We found that paper towels and fabric cloths are great for absorbing spilled water, and plastic bags to carry shopping repel water.

EYFS - Science Detectives; making jelly. Solid (soft) jelly cubes, add hot water to melt and make liquid, then put in the fridge to make solid again. The children are looking forward to eating the jelly for their Golden Time treat tomorrow.

EYFS - Science Detectives...We have been using our sense of touch, to explore how we can feel the world around us. We played 'pass the bag' around to try and guess the different objects in the bag. The children used some lovely describing words, e.g.; bumpy, spikey and smooth.

Nova were inspired by a visit from the children’s author, Ross Montgomery, last week. Year 5 created a play script and dram piece from the first chapter of his book ‘Tripwrecked’

Year 3 Sublime Science workshop this morning🧪 🌂

Year 3 studied the surface of Venus & discovered it is covered in volcanoes. We created or own volcano and watched as it erupted and the lava bubbled over! It was great to link back to our Geography learning from earlier in the year! 🌋🌎👩🏼‍🔬

And with that, we have our 2024 EYFS Graduates ⭐️

EYFS - our first full week at school has begun learning the letter sound 'm', and now learning labs with our friends. Soon we will learn some counting songs and after lunch join our first PE session with a sports coach.

Year 5 have started to gather some scene setting ideas to develop in their writing lessons through the use of adjectives and fronted adverbials.

This week we have enjoyed the story of 'The Colour Monster'. For our Goldentime treat we loved making colour monster biscuits. Yummy!

EYFS - after a week of enjoying the story of 'Super worm', the children enjoyed eating worm sweeties at Goldentime, to give them super hero powers! We made some concertina colourful worms too.

On Friday, children from the Deaf Hub had their first Forest School experience. The event fostered Hub relationships and emphasised communication through a shared love for nature. The Hub is looking forward to more adventures to come.

EYFS - This week the children enjoyed the story of 'The Quiet Little Firework'. They had lots of different learning experiences linked to fireworks and bonfire night. Friday's Goldentime was pretending to toast marshmallows on a bonfire and dipping in chocolate. Yum!

The children at Nova enjoyed Science Investigation Day which gives them the chance to really develop their scientific investigation skills, especially discussion, questioning and planning.

Year 5 thought carefully about what ‘Energy’ is and where it exists in the world around us as they started their new topic this week.

The children enjoyed dressing in spots and Pudsey attire for Children in Need as well as a fabulous cake sale. Thank you to all those who donated towards our amazing total of over £400.

Year 5 & 6 had an amazing day with Cambridge Science Centre when they became the Crisis Response Team, detecting a disease and creating a drug to combat it. The children worked in groups to research, create and analyse.

EYFS - Continuing our theme of 'celebrations', the children enjoyed a selection of wedding related activities and finishing Friday with 'The Scarecrows Wedding'. Many thanks to our friends from Bretton Baptist church, who came to perform the wedding for the children.
