We are truly honoured that Sir Geoff Palmer - Professor Emeritus at Heriot Watt, the first Black professor in Scotland & human rights activist - will join us online to address the James McCune Smith Conference attendees on 8 June.

"It can never be said enough, representation matters" says Dr Peggy Brunache, Director of the Beniba Centre for slavery studies at the first annual UofG JMS PhD conference at University of Glasgow

The presentations at the UofG JMS PhD conference by the JMS Scholars have been phenomenal, and I feel so privileged to have met some of them last year at the start of their journey.

We are delighted and honoured to hear from scholar, Emeritus Professor and human rights activist Sir Geoff Palmer as part of day 2 of the JMS Annual Conference.

Thank you for Sir Geoff Palmer for sharing his wisdom. ‘We cannot change the past but we can change consequences using education.’

Delighted to take a trip across to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum to take a look at the Obaa Sima Dress which was created by our wonderful JMS 22 Scholar Naa Densua Tordzro.

Prudence Mhlophe is back and telling us more about soil health! This time with added underpants! She's telling us about how degradation of materials buried in soil can give us an insight into our soils health, and a pair of cotton pants is the perfect test subject!
