OATS volunteering season 2025 kicked off recently at @glenlivetestate with some Rhodie Bashing! Rhododendrons are a non-native, highly invasive species. Well done to the #volunteers and a big thanks to Rob, Crown Estate Scot Maintenance Ranger.

We've just had two busy days of path maintenance #volunteering on the Balmoral Castle Estate. 171 drainage features cleared, 1 drainage ditch created, 2 water bars repaired. 1 wobbly stone fixed & loads of heather removed from the paths. Many thanks to a fantastic team.

Thanks to Dan Bailey UKHillwalking for a fantastic feature highlighting the skills and hard graft required to build a sustainable mountain path. If you love being in the mountains and use mountain paths, please read this: ukhillwalking.com/articles/featu… #saveourmountainpaths

It’s Up to Us, a joint campaign with Mountaineering Scotland to repair #mountainpaths across Scotland, and protect the fragile mountain #environment for future generations, was featured on the BBC Scotland #Landward programme. #BBC #iPlayer - bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod… #ItsUptoUs

OATS #volunteers ventured North West for 2 days graft on the #StacPollaidh path. Thanks to Hostelling Scotland for the excellent accommodation in the #Ullapool #YouthHostel. The team created drainage ditches, cleared & repaired broken cross drains. Thanks to the fantastic team.
