#DYK the 1st meeting of The Hour-A-Day Study Club was held in February 1934, and it is the longest running, non-profit, Black female-driven organization in Canada. #DYK they hosted High-Tea events for high-profile guests such as Mary McLeod Bethune & Shirley Chisholm.

Harry Gairey, seated at the Attorney General's reception for Ontario Black History Society #OTD in 1981, spoke out after his son was refused entry to a Toronto skating rink on racial grounds in 1945. His civil rights advocacy led to the city's first anti-discrimination ordinance in 1947. #BHM
