It was an honor to attend the Public Information Officers (PIO) Learning Collaborative event and I look forward to continuing to work alongside #juvenilejustice and child welfare PIOs and communication professionals to effectively communicate reform efforts in the field.

I was honored to announce the award of $784,000 under the FY2023 Second Chance Act Youth Reentry Program to the Area Committee to Improve Opportunities Now (ACTION), Inc. in Athens, GA during my meeting with their Board of Directors and leadership team. Excited for what's ahead!

It was a privilege to celebrate the Children's Defense Fund’s 50th Anniversary and take part in their national policy forum at Howard University earlier this month. The conversation was inspiring and I’m hopeful it will help launch a bold public policy agenda that ensures all children thrive.

I visited Smithsonian’s NMAAHC this week and viewed a small portion of their magnificent and poignant collection. It was a deeply moving experience – and a reminder of the importance of our efforts to ensure our justice system is fair and equitable for all.

Enjoyed a great visit with the wonderful folks at the Residencial Luis Llorens Torres Boys & Girls Clubs de Puerto Rico this week. Looking forward to seeing their plans to support Puerto Rico’s young people come to life in the new year.

I was pleased to join my Bureau of Justice Assistance colleagues for the 2023 #ViolentCrimeReduction Summit this week and spend time with leaders from the Aurora, CO Public Safety Partnership (PSP) site. @OJDOJJDP is invested in working alongside this PSP site to reduce violence in their community.

Last week, I participated in a Youth Justice Symposium and was blown away inspired by the conversation and ideas shared with Hennepin County youth justice leaders. Working together, we can ensure children are treated like children in the #juvenilejustice system.
