Bolin Creek Trail is closed for storm construction repairs from Umstead Dr. to MLK Jr. Blvd., and from MLK Jr. Blvd. to Bolinwood Dr. in Chapel Hill (see map below). The red lines indicate where the trail is closed to the public.

Due to TD Chantal, University Lake reached historically high levels - more than 7 ft (93 in) over the dam spillway. During rainfall events, University Lake, and areas downstream, are prone to flooding since there are no flood gates and flow over the spillway can't be controlled.

Despite extreme water levels, initial inspection of the University Lake Dam did not indicate any immediate concerns. OWASA continues to work in partnership with Orange County Emergency Management and other first responders to review and exercise our Dam Emergency Action Plan.

TD Chantal will leave a lasting mark on our community. OWASA's deepest sympathies are with those who lost homes, possessions, businesses, and loved ones. Orange County has established a Community Giving Fund to support local recovery efforts in the wake of TD Chantal.
