Not all copies of a newspaper were created equal. Do you know which edition(s) of you favourite title were actually digitised? Can you find out by examining the metadata? You might be surprised! digitisednewspapers.net/maps/edition/ Oceanic Exchanges

I made an Oceanic Exchanges infographic to show what we were working with, in terms of numbers, when we made the Atlas of Digitised Newspapers and Metadata. Yes, we really did make a spreadsheet of over 3000 metadata fields (and you can download it from DOI:10.6084/m9.figshare.11560110)

Thank you OpenMethods for featuring our methodological contribution to #DigitalHumanities! We're truly honoured :) Jaap Verheul DSHjournal Oceanic Exchanges

For anyone interested in #digitalhistory, our paper is now available in #OA: it explores the selection criteria that shape public and commercial digital archives of historical newspapers. With Julianne Nyhan, @EmilyJLB, melissa terras & Melodee Beals. link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Very grateful to Chris Wragge for contributing his wonderful selection of digitised newspaper tools to The Atlas of Digitised Newspapers and Metadata. Do you have a tool or project that you'd like to share? digitisednewspapers.net/contribute/sim…
