my timeline is abuse/domestic violence > acting out, alcoholism + addiction > perpetuating the cycle and abusing others > being diagnosed, medicated and going to rehab > discovering DBT and barely doing it > relapse > self isolation in squalor for years > move from that- cont.

move in with friends > relapse > move in to own apartment > currently trying to keep up my standard of living > studying science, DBT and a new language > cleaning every day > trying to maintain health in my relationships > trying to improve communication > shaved head

When I was a child I used to have these violent outbursts when my environment became frightening or confusing. As a child, violence made the problems go away. This is a hard lesson to unlearn and in needing this to survive I ended up hurting a lot of people. It’s horrible really

even though my parents passed on a lot of hinderances and cognitive difficulties to me and we have a complicated relationship- I am proud of them. They’re in their later lives trying to be better people and that is something you don’t see every day. Power to neuroplasticity!
