The Ocean Data Integration Initiative is kicking off at the University of Haifa University of Haifa and is supported by the UoH DSRC dsrc.haifa.ac.il. Follow us to hear more about how we intend to bring oceanographic data together.

Our weekly meeting saw some excitement as we work on our new project website to showcase our work. Thanks to Academic Web Pages we are making rapid progress.

Our data integration system development team is imagining how the user interface will look like for scientists when they approve matches. Here is an old interface from the Ontobuilder days, remember Avigdor Gal ?

Our redesigned website is live! Come visit us at odini.net. Thank you to Academic Web Pages.

Trying to assign datasets LAT/LONG to a named sea (Weddel? Mediterranean?). TLDR - no public service to reverse geocodes into sea names. So Antonio Zaitoun made one. Given a geocode see-sea.odini.net/docs locates closest salt-water body. Data: wikidata.org

Congratulations to Antonio Zaitoun , our star Ph.D. student, for being accepted to present a Demo of his Ontology Evaluation System at The Web Conference . Here is a cool example where the system evaluates the Oceanographic coverage of the ENVO Ontology.

Congratulations to Bartal Eyðfinsson Veyhe, a Master's student from Department of Computer Science, Aalborg University, for being accepted to publish his work "Scientific Data Extraction from Oceanographic Papers" at the Sci-K workshop at The Web Conference : sci-k.github.io/2023/.
