Why is a government TD asking people on Twitter to act instead of I dunno… doing something about it ⁉️ It’s FG/FF terrible planning that has landed us in this mess in the first place.

Dublin City Council has won its appeal against a ruling that it could not build a cycleway on Sandymount's Strand Road - reducing traffic to a one-way system - without planning permission rte.ie/news/dublin/20…

Finally, some sense prevails. Delighted to see this decision and hopefully, it will encourage other Local Authorities to push ahead with similar trials, now that they have the legal right to do so.

For context, Luas Finglas had a preferred route in Dec 2021, due to open in 2032…. Luas Cork is a proposed 18km long light rail line running from Ballincollig to Mahon Point. thejournal.ie/luas-cork-emer…

Our friends in Cork Commuter Coalition finally have a preferred Luas route, but it has a few issues: • Max capacity is poor at 2,300 users p/h; about 1/4 of Dublin’s Green line • Single track at Ballincollig isn’t great • Trams are too short Follow them for more news

This is madness. If we can’t even build modest cycle lane, what chance do we have of cutting emissions or building a liveable planet? Councillor Flynn is now talking about taking DCC to the European courts—over a cycle lane. I’m honestly lost for words. irishtimes.com/ireland/dublin…

We did mention we had news? We've just acquired all of the Sheanadh Gharráin woods east of the Bhoth Loiscthe River in the Connemara Gaeltacht. 35 acres of rainforest awesomeness are now protected, plus 47 acres of space for them to stretch into !

On the anniversary of the sinking of the Titantic, I find it ironic that like the rather than learn from other man made disasters, our government with Darragh O'Brien at the helm has decided to let us sink rather than adding lifeboats or avoiding the iceberg altogether....

There are plenty of real issues with the Cork LUAS plan (low capacity, odd routing, & too much mixing with traffic, to name a few). A pub being demolished (with compensation!) isn’t one of them. Let’s focus on the actual problems and the many positives. My letter in today's IT.

Over 60% of Ireland’s land is used for agriculture. That’s what I’d call Big Agri. A cull alone won’t solve the problem, but alongside fair payments to farmers for restoring nature, it could be a win for everyone.

I’ve tried to use this platform to inform, to urge action, and to fight for a better future. This will be my last tweet. There’s still time to change course. A better world is possible. Let's start by banning fossil fuel ads. #BanFossilAds thejournal.ie/readme/fossil-…
