Congratulations to Brian Barraza and Travis Mahoney for getting #WCHOregon22 qualifiers in the #steeplechase last night at #MCTC in Nashville. Both marks were personal bests, and they now sit at #2 and #3, respectively, on the 2022 USA top lists.

Do you know how hard it is to run a 5 second personal best in the steeplechase a month before turning 32? It’s a young person’s event but Travis Mahoney is still playing!

I looked it up… Travis is the 27th fastest man in US history and no one ahead of him was older what they set their personal best.

Track is hard! Only 1 major championship per year. Major earning opportunities based on that 1 championship. No “best of”series. Survive elimination from prelims to final. No timeouts. No quarters. No halves.Gun goes off. You succeed or you don’t. #WCHOregon22

Track and Field Athletes don’t get a break after their CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT OF THE YEAR like Football. They come back and compete at the highest level at Diamond Leagues and other championships, which takes extreme discipline and focus. These athletes should be celebrated more.
