Weber: sacred cows of EM research… POCUS, triage, other blind alleys. Adrenaline, burnout, risk prediction. Does this research actually matter to patient outcomes? Time to move on… #EBM #RCEMasc

Mention of the Side by Side consensus document at #RCEMasc - available at rcpsych.ac.uk/docs/default-s… Does your department work towards these standards?

Great presentation by Graham Johnson about SARC study. Does IV salbutamol in addition to standard analgesia help pain in renal colic? No. Story behind the trial, and time & effort put in over 10 years is as enlightening as result itself. HT also to Remedy RDH ED colleagues #RCEMasc

Great sentiment from Silothabo Dliso - ā€œNo research about me without meā€ Couldn’t agree more - we need to engage with our communities to help us design studies they will support/engage in, and make sure we answer the things that matter to them. #rcemasc

Need to reduce focus on resus / HALO procedures and put much more focus on early recognition of the dying patient / EoL care. Much more benefit for many more patients. We’re here to treat the population that needs us, not the population we think we’d like to see. #YODO #RCEMasc

Can you use the MIRACLE2 score in the prehospital environment? Maybe but we need to do more to understand its role. Many thanks to Sarah Morton šŸ’™ for all the hard work on bringing this together. Moral injury often talked about as something we experience often (even daily) in our EDs. Have you got time to share your experiences to aid to research and help us understand it better, and what it means to us, our teams and our patients? DREEAM_Research teamEDnuh

What’s that? You’d like a year of working (and learning) split between EM and PHEM? Well, here’s just the thing for you: tinyurl.com/bdscvrbk 12 month fellow posts - 6/12 EM in Sheffield and 6/12 PHEM with Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, starting August 2024. Well worth a look šŸ‘€

There are many perks to my PHEM job and this is definitely one - some awesome neighbours who we regularly get to enjoy watching practice (although trying to do challenge-response checklists whilst they’re overhead is a new level of tricky šŸ˜‚)

Home with a happy tiredness after grand day teaching #ACEDCourse today DREEAM. Well done to all candidates for making it such fun. Massive shout out and congratulations to Hannah Wilkin-Crowe for making this happen - the effort put in has been immense šŸ‘ Here’s to the next one

A fantastic opportunity not to be missed. My colleagues NUH Critical CarešŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ are a great and supportive team, and our crew Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance are awesome (yes I’m biased but it doesn’t stop it being true). Previous fellows have enjoyed it immensely. Details here: jobs.nhs.uk/candidate/joba…

Shout out to the fabulous DREEAM_Research nurses for recruiting our first Consept Trial patient this afternoon. And a big thank you to teamEDnuh colleagues in resus for highlighting the patient to us and enabling them to have the chance to participate. Here’s to many more šŸ„³šŸŽ‰

Great day learning from crew & external speakers around burns care in the prehospital environment and decision making at today’s Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance Clinical Governance Day, with some powerful honesty about impact of jobs on us. Hats off Dave Burtle & Nick Tilbury for bringing it together.

In the glorious sunshine after 3 great days of #RCEMasc feeling contemplative and refreshed Will take a bit of time mull over but definitely energised for the next few weeks Chapeau to all the speakers, and thank you to those who kept the time outside of talks so much fun 😁

Opportunity to come and join the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance clinical team: ambucopter.org.uk/jobs/hems-doct… Come and be part of a great bunch of clinicians from various corners, bringing high quality prehospital care to Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire (and beyond)
