gazette-news.co.uk/news/25027428.… like the Gazette, you may have noticed our town is considered one of the best places to live in East of England by the The Times and The Sunday Times. Our campaign to save old king George even got a mention, showing "Wivenhoe hasn’t forgotten its bohemian, radical roots"

postonline.co.uk/personal/79574… read today's article in the Insurance_post for the latest from our tree and the evaluation work. We hope Aviva plc Aviva UK will be responding to us soon, as seeing yet again the same tired quote from them here is disappointing

Really shocking to see how little old oak trees are valued nationwide. Old king George is of a scale that would require a felling license and it would be unlawful to fell him too without one. We have openly stated this in the hope it will be noted by our council & Aviva plc.

Reporting on yesterday's delivery of hard copies to Wivenhoe Town Council, the local library and to Aviva plc Aviva UK by Royal Mail. gazette-news.co.uk/news/25092203.… you can see our mayor's comments... The first we've heard from her since sharing the report more than two weeks ago.

As anger over the unnecessary destruction of the 500 year old Whitewebbs Oak in Enfield by the philistines Toby Carvery grows, attention is turning to the failures in our current Tree Preservation Order (TPO) regime that allowed it to happen. I set out in greater detail on this

Happy earth day. Old king George is starting to put a display of handsome foliage on, this is from last week. We hope to see another year of leaf through to fall, and perhaps many more decades or hundreds of years, to come. Aviva plc please save our lovely tree.

No new info to report on the situation here in Wivenhoe. Aviva plc Aviva UK still have not responded to any of our communications, while Wivenhoe Town council also says very little. And yet, the Old King George oak tree is determined to produce leaves and carry on regardless.

Interesting news from Wivenhoe. Old King George has been found to most likely be over 170 years old by tree dating expert Dr Martin Bridge of the Oxford Dendrochronology lab! Thank you to Martin for returning to give more conclusive answer on this important question
