Excited to be arriving at work for my first day as Permanent Under-Secretary Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office - the UK Government’s international strategy & delivery dept. A great team doing brilliant diplomatic and development work for Britain’s interests, citizens & partnerships across the world.

My congratulations and thanks to all those recognised. Delighted to see Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office colleagues among the recipients.

A productive two days in DC. It was great to speak with staff British Embassy Washington and across our wider US network. I also met with Christopher Landau Chris Landau, and look forward to working with Chris in his new role on our shared priorities.

Great two days in India, with the centrepiece being consultations with Vikram Misri, my Indian opposite number. So much potential across the India-UK partnership. Many thanks to Lindy Cameron, Christina Scott and the whole UK in India🇬🇧🇮🇳 team.

Headed to Glasgow last night for today’s opening morning of #CivilServiceLive, talking about learning & development with civil servants from across the UK Civil Service in Scotland. Good to spend the afternoon catching up with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office team at our joint HQ in East Kilbride.

A pleasure to meet Deputy Minister Ambassador Bozay with Jill Morris and discuss the strength and breadth of the Türkiye/UK partnership as well as exchanging views on shared geopolitical challenges. Thank you for the warm welcome Turkish MFA and the support from UK in Türkiye 🇬🇧🇹🇷.

Great to see this quick follow-up to the productive talks Anne-Marie Descôtes and I held recently. Thank you Hélène Duchêne and UK in France!

Brilliant to see Kumar Iyer taking the reins at one of Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office ‘s most varied and globally influential posts.
