A valuable new tool, and proof that it always pays off to search for better priors and opportunities to parallelize Bayesian calculations.

Pezeshkian's words on supporting Khamenei's ban on importing the COVID vaccine from EU & US when Iranians were dying with no access to any tested vaccine: "We [He and Khamenei] don't like to buy a product from a seller. The point isn't whether it's the right or wrong thing to do"

“I feel like they always talk about [...] we don’t have enough data [...] You do have enough data — if you were innovative enough on your algorithm side.” This didn't age well - turns out, having data is all that matters, and models are largely equivalent. Absolutely fantastic

The first female Archbishop of Canterbury could be an Iranian-born. Her Persian parents: You must become a doctor (she already is), an engineer, and achieve the highest religious ranks in the world :)

#Tehran metro is 863 sq miles, all densly populated. It's twice the size of the entire Rocky Mt park. All 5 boroughs of NYC become 303 sq mi.

Thrilled to announce our new paper in Bioinformatics. We present Topolow, a physics-inspired algorithm to create more accurate & stable antigenic maps, even from sparse data; also "antigenic velocity" showing the direction and magnitude of changes. 🔗: academic.oup.com/bioinformatics…

We tested Topolow on the classic H3N2 influenza data. Our map is similar to the lab-validated map AND our antigenic velocity vectors automatically identify cluster transitions previously found with reverse-genetics. See analyses in our Bioinformatics paper academic.oup.com/bioinformatics…

We explained the theories of Topolow as an Euclidean embedding algorithm for general data science. We showed it has significantly greater accuracy at transforming non-metric data to metric, a crucial step before using most statistics and ML tools. github.com/omid-arhami/to…

Plot twist: Your data probably violates metric axioms. Your tools don't check. They just compute nonsense. Topolow bridges non-metric data to valid analysis -Handles up to 95% sparsity -Higher accuracy than MDS install.packages("topolow") Euclidify(dissimilarities) #RStats

In the same way that "social network" -which was for people to interact and enrich their lives- became "social media", sooner or later, AI will become "intelligent media".

All drivers on a super busy highway in Tehran willingly stopped and left their cars to remove the chicks from the highway. We have a poem in Persian that all kids are tought a hundred times: On the ant bearing the grain bring not strife/He is alive and joyous is sweet life
