Since 2012, overall incident volume has trended down, but mostly because of discretionary activity, NOT because neighbors call less often. The biggest reason is Burlington Police's purposeful reduction in traffic stops—something we've voluntarily been leading on for several years.

Earlier this afternoon, neighbors may have noted a police operation at S Winooski Ave and Bank St. Callers reported hearing shots and responding officers canvassed for evidence of gunfire. At this point police have *not* confirmed the incident and it is still under investigation.
