Ecuador native Fabian Soto came to the U.S. in '93. On 9/11, he was washing the windows of the Observation Deck high in the South Tower when the North Tower was struck. He was 31 years old. Today we placed a white rose at his name on the #911Memorial to mark his 55th birthday.

This #MemorialDay, we honor the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who gave their lives in service, especially those who served after 9/11. Their courage and sacrifice remind us of the true meaning of service.

After 9/11, the Burger King near Ground Zero played an unexpected but vital role in the days that followed. Located just steps away from the WTC site, this fast-food restaurant was quickly transformed into a makeshift command center for the NYPD and emergency responders.
