How to study challenging weak and complex interactions? We have taken a brave journey to elucidate the details of such an interaction (tandem WW domain of WWOX with its substrates) in our latest paper in JBC with the Chill lab JordanChill_NMR! jbc.org/article/S0021-โ€ฆ

Guy Zoltsman at Rosenzweig Lab performed an NMR experiment and verified the binding site of the N-terminal of UFL1 to UFC1 (highlihted with red) - the same site that binds the E1 of ufmylation, UBA5.

With the help of Michail Isupov, we also determined the structure of our fusion protein, and found that overall it matches the AlphaFold2 prediction with 1.4 ร… backbone RMSD!
