Invited to be expert adviser to NICE -about 18 hours of work, almost all undertaken out of hours, or by taking annual leave. Company pays NICE £186,000 for HTA appraisal. NICE pays experts ‘a summary confirming your contribution to NICE for your appraisal’. #feelingvalued

So MAPs don’t study medicine according to GMC Prof Colin R Melville Would have to do NON medical prescriber and NON medical IRMER training to be able to prescribe /request ionising radiation Yet they are ‘ medical professionals’ Makes perfect sense

The GMC are arguing they don’t have a responsibility to protect patients…. Why exactly are they taking hundreds of pounds off me every year?

The GMC are a failed regulator. If we get enough agreement then we should all withhold fee payment until they are replaced with a body elected by, and accountable to, doctors.

pontee The paper tested everyone against the PA core curriculum… I’d expect both groups to be comparable. 🤣 Why don’t they now go back and test both groups against the med student curriculum (far wider breadth and depth of knowledge)…

Now ban the title “practitioner”. Everyone should revert to their primary qualification. Emergency Nurse Practitioner works. Extended scope physiotherapist works. But I see “junior practitioner” and “senior practitioner” and want to scream!

9/ The prescribing and IRMER recommendations are especially reckless. You can’t shortcut pharmacology, radiology and pathophysiology into “credentialling modules”. These are advanced medical skills, not bolt-on tasks.
