Hard to believe this was a year ago! The time has literally flown by. Do I miss it? I loved what I did but I genuinely think I retired at the right time still doing the job I loved #TrafficCops #Whitecaps

What have I been up to since then? I decided to take the summer off & spend quality time with my family. Being able to make last minute decisions to go away or on day trips was not something I was used to but certainly made the most of it, or to just sit & chill in the garden

Then I did a couple of training days with Great Rail Journeys to become a self employed #TourManager which has been a great way still be helping people but also see the world. After an initial trip to the Rhine at Strasbourg I spent a week in the Scottish Highlands including the Jacobite

My next trip took me from London on the Eurostar, through France & on to the Italian lakes. Orta, Maggiore & Como with a trip into Switzerland to Zermatt & the gornegrat railway with stunning views throughout

This year I have had the pleasure of Catalonia and the trains of the Pyrenees which involved in a stay in the beautiful town of Roses with trips to the little red train, Núria rack railway, Besalú & the cultural visit to the Dalí museum in Figueres

I have also just got back from Lake Garda (which by the way is stunning)! This trip also included boat trips across the lake. Venice & Verona and my favourite bit, an hour trekking at the top of Monte Baldo with Alapacas!

The final thing I’ve turned my hand to is working once a week at the amazing Leathley Farm Shop & Cafe Friends who are like family and close links to Road Safety Talks by Lauren Doherty BEM BCAv means that it’s not really like work but just a great place to be (I can neither confirm nor deny bacon butties are involved)

I guess I’ve had a busy first year of “retirement” but loving it. Feel very fortunate to be able to pick & choose my hours but there was never any way that I was going to do nothing. Looking forward to the #TourDeAky next month & keep your eyes peeled for my next charity venture
