"In times of change, uncertainty, and even exhaustion, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. The weight of the world’s challenges—whether social, environmental, or personal—can be relentless. But Outdoor Afro was made for this moment." outdoorafro.org/2025/03/outdoo…

On behalf of Outdoor Afro we're delighted to thank everyone who attended yesterday's reception. Founder/CEO Rue Mapp presented reps from Rep. Mike Thompson & Senator Angus King offices with the Outdoor Champion award for working on policies to enhance Black Americans’ connection to nature.

Many thanks to Congressman William Timmons for meeting with Outdoor Afro's leaders yesterday to learn about the need to connect more Black Americans to nature, and thanks to the offices of Sen. Cory Booker, Ossoff's Office, Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock, Adam Schiff, and Rep. Hank Johnson for also speaking with them.

We extend our gratitude to the offices of Rep. Celeste Maloy, Rep. Jimmy Panetta, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, and the House Natural Resources Committee, led by Chair Rep. Bruce Westerman and Ranking Member Rep. Jared Huffman, for speaking with members of Outdoor Afro last week.
